Swing Trendline Break & Fakeout
Swing Trendline Break & Fakeout for MT5 converts confirmed swing structure into readable breakout and failed-break signals.
Why traders use it
- Objective trendlines - descending resistance comes from lower swing highs, while ascending support comes from higher swing lows.
- Closed-bar confirmation - pivots and signals are evaluated only after the required bars have closed.
- Break or fakeout focus - select confirmed breaks, liquidity-grab reversals, or both without changing the underlying structure.
- Hard fakeout window - a failed break must return inside the projected line within the chosen bar limit and confirm twice.
- Planned risk display - optional ATR stop, R targets, and simplified statistics keep setup review consistent.
How it works
The indicator projects one active resistance line and one active support line from confirmed pivots. A close through a line creates a break. If price returns inside within the fakeout window and confirms the return on the next closed bar, the event becomes a fakeout signal. See the Manual for signal direction and settings.

Swing Trendline Break & Fakeout
What Swing Trendline Break & Fakeout puts on your chart
This indicator turns confirmed swing sequences into projected support and resistance on MT5. It is designed to distinguish a close through structure from a failed break that returns inside quickly. Pivot confirmation, line extension, a hard fakeout window, and selectable signal mode keep the workflow explicit.
Reading projected swing structure
Descending resistance is created from two confirmed lower swing highs. Ascending support is created from two confirmed higher swing lows. A pivot is accepted only after the selected number of bars on both sides has closed, so the structure does not use an unconfirmed turning point.

How a trendline event is defined
- Pivot Strength controls how many closed bars confirm each swing.
- Extension Bars limits how far an active trendline remains eligible.
- Break requires a closed bar beyond the projected line.
- Fakeout Window is a hard bar limit for price to return inside.
- Fakeout confirmation requires the return inside to remain valid on a second closed bar.

From armed structure to a signal
A close above descending resistance creates a BUY - Break above descending resistance signal. A close below ascending support creates a SELL - Break below ascending support signal. If an upside break returns below resistance within the hard window and confirms twice, the indicator prints SELL - Fakeout above resistance. If a downside break returns above support and confirms twice, it prints BUY - Fakeout below support.
Use Signal Mode to show Break, Fakeout, or Both. The default emphasizes Fakeout signals. Optional risk display enters at the signal close, defines 1R with the ATR stop multiplier, and plots enabled R targets. The panel is a simplified closed-bar simulation and excludes any open trade at the chart's right edge.

Where this fits in a price-action workflow
- Breakout traders who want objective swing-derived lines.
- Reversal traders who study failed breaks and liquidity grabs.
- Users who prefer closed-bar confirmation and an explicit fakeout deadline.
Test the defaults first, then adjust pivot strength and the fakeout window to the instrument's rhythm. Use the lines as structured context, not as a promise that every break or reversal will succeed.
