Why swing highs and lows alone don't tell you where liquidity sits
The problem with eyeballing support and resistance
You mark a swing high by eye, price approaches it, and you wait for the reaction. Sometimes it reverses cleanly. Other times it punches straight through, stops you out, and then reverses exactly where you thought it would, but only after taking your position. The line you drew was correct, but you still lost because you didn't know whether price was going to respect that level or raid the orders sitting above it.
S&R Pro is a market-structure overlay for NinjaTrader 8 that solves that guessing game. Instead of leaving you to draw horizontal lines by hand and wonder what they mean, it identifies confirmed swing highs and swing lows using a symmetric pivot algorithm, then draws a liquidity line at each one so you always know where the nearest pool of resting orders sits, buy-side liquidity above price, sell-side liquidity below it.
What it does
S&R Pro maps structure and liquidity. It does not produce entry signals, arrows, or targets. What it gives you is an objective, real-time answer to two questions: where is the nearest liquidity, and has price reached it?
The tool runs a pivot-detection engine over closed bars. A pivot high is confirmed when a bar's high is the most extreme within a symmetric window of bars on both sides (default 20 bars left, 20 bars right). A pivot low is confirmed the same way, using the low. Once confirmed, the exact price of that pivot bar becomes a liquidity line that extends forward to the current bar.
Buy-side liquidity is plotted at the most recent confirmed swing high, red by default. Above that line sit the protective stops of short sellers and the breakout orders of buyers.
Sell-side liquidity is plotted at the most recent confirmed swing low, blue by default. Below that line sit the stops of long traders and the breakout orders of sellers.
Each line begins at the actual pivot bar and extends to the right. A line stops only when a new swing of the same type is confirmed, it does not stop because price touched it. The newest line of each color is the level currently in play; older lines remain as a record of past structure.
Four alert conditions are built in: a new swing high, a new swing low, price reaching buy-side liquidity, and price reaching sell-side liquidity. The raid alerts fire when the bar's high crosses above the last swing high or the bar's low crosses below the last swing low. They are attention signals, not directional calls, the indicator makes no conclusion about what happens next.
How it is used in a real session
You load S&R Pro onto your chart. You tune the pivot depth (Left bar and Right bar parameters) so the swings match the timeframe you trade, lower values confirm swings faster but produce more noise; higher values keep only significant swings but confirm later.
Once the chart is running, you identify the two active lines: the most recent buy-side line above price and the most recent sell-side line below it. Those are the two nearest liquidity targets.
Price moves toward one of them. You watch whether it closes beyond the level or only wicks through and closes back inside. If the raid alert fires and price closes back inside, you know the liquidity was collected and the breakout failed. If price closes beyond the level and an opposite swing forms shortly after, you know structure has shifted.
The candle-coloring layer shades each bar by close versus previous close, giving you a quick read of short-term follow-through. The raided line continues to extend to the right, a reminder that the level is still on the chart until the next same-type swing is confirmed.
You use the information to frame your own trade plan. If you are waiting for a liquidity raid before entering in the opposite direction, the alert tells you when it happened. If you are looking for a confirmed breakout, the behavior after the raid tells you whether the break is real or false.

Who it fits
S&R Pro is built for traders who work with market structure, liquidity, and smart-money concepts and want those levels drawn objectively instead of by hand. It suits discretionary traders who prefer a clean overlay that frames the chart and leaves the entry decision to them.
It works on any market and timeframe available on NinjaTrader 8. Tune the pivot depth so the swings match the timeframe you trade, higher values for swing trades, lower values for intraday.
If you rely on alerts rather than watching the screen, the four built-in alert conditions let you step away and return when structure updates or liquidity is reached.
What it does not do
S&R Pro does not generate BUY or SELL entries. It draws no arrows, no targets, no stop levels. It does not predict whether a liquidity raid will reverse or continue, it only tells you the raid happened.
A pivot needs bars on both sides before it can be confirmed, so the swing marker always arrives later and is drawn back onto the correct bar. If you need real-time signals on the current bar, this tool will not give them to you.
The indicator makes no assumption about how price will behave at a liquidity level. You still need your own confirmation method, your own entry rules, and your own risk plan. Without those, the levels alone will not keep you profitable.
It does not filter for volatility, volume, or trend strength. A swing is confirmed purely by price structure, so you can get valid pivots in low-volatility chop that do not lead to meaningful moves.
Why swing highs and lows alone don't tell you where liquidity sits
Every swing high and swing low is visible to everyone. But not every swing has the same magnetic pull. What makes a level worth watching is the volume of orders resting there, the stops, the breakout entries, the limit orders. S&R Pro assumes that confirmed swing extremes are where those orders accumulate, and it maps them so you can see both sides of the liquidity equation at once.
When you mark a level by eye, you are often marking the most obvious swing without knowing whether it is still relevant or whether a newer, closer swing has taken over. S&R Pro removes that guesswork by keeping only the most recent confirmed swing of each type active and visible.
Pairing with other tools
S&R Pro shows you where liquidity sits. It does not tell you which direction to trade or when to enter. If you want directional context, ICT SMC NT8 adds order blocks, fair value gaps, and premium/discount zones to the same liquidity framework. If you want confirmation that a liquidity raid is ending, Phase Filter NT8 can help you see when momentum is shifting back the other way.
Pairing S&R Pro with a volume or delta tool can show you whether the liquidity raid was absorbed or whether it triggered follow-through buying or selling. The structure overlay gives you the levels; the confirmation layer gives you the decision.
Final note
Knowing where liquidity is resting is usually worth more than reacting to every break of a high or a low. S&R Pro is built around that idea: fewer things on the chart, but the ones that are there mean something.
Trading involves risk. This indicator is an analysis tool and does not guarantee any result. Nothing here is investment advice.
